Types

Soaker Hoses
A soaker hose is designed to squeeze water through a porous membrane that is present in the entire length of the hose. They are ideal for deep watering because they can be buried along the watering lines and roots of the plants or garden. These are simple to install and use and let you customize the watering system with the needed hoses and timers.
Drip Irrigation System
This system is growing in popularity among some landscapers and irrigators. These are considered the most water efficient options. They are especially beneficial for any non-turf area. Every drop will be applied slowly, and it will soak into the ground. This type of system will use just a fraction of the water that an overhead spray device will. They can also be installed as a zone system.
Spray Systems
This is the most well-known type of sprinkler system that is installed today. They use spray heads, some that are installed at ground level, some that are pop ups, and others that are installed on extended, exterior pipes. With these types of spray heads, you can choose different shapes and sizes, and options that offer different spray patterns. In most cases, spray systems are used in smaller areas where there are flowerbeds, shrubs, and turf. These are great options for flatter surfaces and may waste more water than some of the other systems. If you choose this type of system, you need to be careful not to overwater your lawn.
Rotor Systems
While these are usually more efficient than traditional spray heads, these systems tend to lose a lot of water because of evaporation, too. There are two main types of rotor systems including impact and stream. They are used for covering larger areas and will usually apply water in a more uniform manner than more traditional spray heads. However, they will move the water’s focus enough to give the drops the time needed to be absorbed by the flowers, plants, and ground.
